City Election Upcoming; Be an Informed Voter
As we begin to see the weather change to spring and see the excitement in our children for the end of the school year, there is very important business to be done at the local level. The city is ramping up the election cycle and the continued success of our community depends on the voters participating in the process.
We have one of the most successful communities in terms of economics, education and leadership and this trend must continue for our community to continue to be a leader in our region and state. There is one constant for Hamblen County and Morristown, we will grow. The elected leaders will shape this growth to the community’s desires, and as constituents, it is our responsibility to elect quality leaders and communicate to these officials our expectations.
The Morristown city election will be held on Tuesday, May 2. Early voting runs from Wednesday, April 12—Thursday, April 27. The Chamber’s Candidate Forum which was held on Monday, April 3 was videotaped and can be viewed on the Citizen Tribune’s website (www.citizentribune.com) beginning April 5 and running through May 2. All seven candidates running in the city election participated, and you may view the forum and hear the candidate’s positions on issues impacting our city. I encourage you to take the time to watch this and be an informed voter.
