“Monkeying” with Our Priorities
As we move into the new year, I think a Chamber push is needed for some extra positivity. Isn’t it amazing that a loose monkey can refocus a community away from a jail and roundabout, both needed projects for the community. I will mention that the monkey was caught by Chamber Ambassador of the Year Adam Ivy! Social media no doubt has some value for fast communication and
marketing but is fuel for a lack of focus.
Think about the positivity of the new justice center. Think about what could
have happened 20 years ago if naysayers had not been allowed to insert themselves into the decision making process. We would be sitting with a similar product at 20% of the cost while all the negative individuals did was delay costing the taxpayers more. A proactive, positive push is often needed from the business community as you are the main tax payers. Your opinion frankly just matters more. Why should you pay more because a few individuals want to wait? Why let a few micromanage the future of our business community as
you deserve results.
There are few certainties in life but one is for sure, the cost of construction
rarely decreases and sadly, that is just another lesson learned. Our community is so unique with our low tax rate yet services offered that not one other country in the state offers like countywide garbage pick up, that it has allowed many to become spoiled at how lucky they are to be here. I would love to say living in Hamblen County is a privilege and not just a right, but we all can’t have our dreams come true I guess….now back to the monkey.
Chester is back home in Alabama and our Ambassador of the year Adam refused the $500 reward. We would expect no less as we have high expectations for our Ambassadors and he has made us all proud. You haven’t lived life until you hear a local banker sweet talking a monkey and telling it he loves him to keep him calm.
