presidents deskHousing Needs an Important Issue for our Community

Looking to rent or own a new home in the area? It is hard to imagine how much has changed in just 5 years. As job growth increases in our community, so does population growth and the increased need for housing of all types. It puts our community in an odd and unique situation as a large percentage of our daily workforce commutes in from the surrounding counties. While that is great, it would be even greater if those people were permanent tax paying citizens in Hamblen County.

As a Chamber, we are currently working and brainstorming about how to market our community around the region and the globe, but without adequate housing options, we lose our most valuable asset, our people, to surrounding areas. As a Chamber Member and representative of our community,
we encourage you to speak with developers about the positivity and growth in our community and how they can become a part of it. It is an odd position to be in when we are trying to help local builders while also trying to attract new builders to keep up with demand, but I think that is another positive indicator in our community!
